Suicide and Self-Harm Risk

Lifetime prevalence of suicide attempts did not differ significantly between ASD and non-ASD psychiatric emergency patients in this study. A suicide act in the week before the CPOA visit was similar between ASD and non-ASD groups. NSSI behaviours commonly use physical pain to relieve emotional distress or function as self-punishment.
