The SUPERDURA trial is a multicentre randomized non-inferiority trial comparing active subperiosteal drainage with passive subdural drainage after single burr hole evacuation of symptomatic chronic subdural haematoma. The non-inferiority margin is a 7% increased absolute risk. Participants are randomized 1:1 before drain placement to passive subdural drainage or active subperiosteal drainage. The trial includes all four Danish neurosurgical centres.
