A visibly enlarged suprachoroidal space is unusual in the general population and more commonly associated with ocular disease such as severely low intraocular pressure or retinochoroidal inflammation. Suprachoroidal thickness was positively associated with glucose (r = +0.57) and negatively associated with heart rate (r = -0.78). Suprachoroidal thickness showed positive monotonic associations with both cumulative fluid input and output. In some ICU patients the suprachoroidal space was markedly enlarged, ranging from 25.0 to 110.0 microns. The suprachoroidal space was visible in 75% of ICU patients with successful baseline scans.
