Musculoskeletal conditions receive less attention than several other non-communicable diseases in regional strategies. The study provides evidence that musculoskeletal disorders impose a considerable quality-of-life burden in Kilimanjaro and likely wider Tanzania. The evidence supports more explicit inclusion of musculoskeletal disorders in Tanzanian health planning. The findings are intended to guide clinical delivery, intervention design, service provision, health promotion, and awareness activities at multiple levels. The wider NIHR project created evidence for planning cost-effective prevention and management strategies.
