Telomerase Activity

Greater telomerase action probability or lengthening magnitude shifts the model toward sustained growth. The probability of telomerase lengthening decreases with telomere length in the telomerase simulations. Telomerase can counteract telomere attrition by adding telomeric repeats. In the model, each new telomere may be independently lengthened when telomerase is present. The decreasing telomerase probability is motivated by Greider's replication-fork model. Telomerase can delay cellular senescence but is linked to cancer progression.
