Temporal descriptors improved cross-validated ROC-AUC compared with static pooling. The study tested whether depression-related information appears in temporal properties of acoustic behavior rather than only in averages. The study interprets depression-related speech signal as partly temporal and distributional instead of purely static. Trajectory dynamical biomarkers included slope, first-difference variability, volatility, trend reversals, entropy, and lag-1 autocorrelation.
