Tension Pneumothorax

Tension pneumothorax displaces mediastinal structures and airways toward the opposite side of the chest. Tension pneumothorax occurs when air accumulates in the pleural space, compressing lung tissue and causing it to collapse. Tension pneumothorax is a medical emergency that requires immediate decompression.
