Therapeutic hypothermia is the established neuroprotective treatment for neonatal HIE. Therapeutic hypothermia is defined as active cooling to 34°C, with an acceptable range of 33-35°C, for 72 hours. Rewarming after therapeutic hypothermia must proceed gradually at no more than 0.5°C per hour and last at least 5 hours. Enrolled participants will receive standardised therapeutic hypothermia according to current guidelines. Shenzhen Children’s Hospital will activate transport support so transferred neonates can receive timely hypothermia therapy.
