Using discarded thymus tissue avoids the limited blood-draw volumes available in paediatric patients. Thymus tissue is presented as a rich source of higher-quality Tregs with stronger suppressive capacity than peripheral-blood Tregs. Age-related thymic atrophy may reduce starting material in older adolescents, so manufacturing feasibility across ages is a secondary objective. ATT-Heart uses autologous thymus tissue rather than peripheral blood as the source for Tregs.
