Time-to-Event Models

The survival analysis approach avoids the black-box problem associated with machine-learning approaches. The final model used parametric survival time regression with a lognormal hazard distribution. Hospital-related factors were excluded from the prediction model so it would measure patient-related drivers rather than hospital-related drivers. Model coefficients from the development cohort were used to predict LOS in the validation cohort.
