The activity is designed to improve tongue mobility. The exercise develops the tongue's ability to move forward. Both the front and back portions of the tongue should remain lifted against the palate throughout the movement. The drill requires full tongue contact with the roof of the mouth during jaw movement. The tongue is stretched laterally during the activity. The entire tongue, rather than only the tip, should be placed on the roof of the mouth. The activity is designed to work on tongue mobility as part of a combined tongue-and-jaw drill. The goal is to extend the tongue straight forward as far as possible while pointed.
