Total Mesorectal Excision

TME carries perioperative and long-term morbidity that can impair quality of life. TME is the current standard of care for early-stage rectal cancer because of proven oncological efficacy. Patients with poor or no response at the first assessment are strongly advised to proceed to TME without delay.
