Trial Burdens

Reminders, envelopes, telephone support, flexible follow-up, transport provision and buddy approaches were identified as helpful strategies. Clinic-visit attendance could create childcare, work, travel, transport and financial costs. Work demands were a recurring barrier to completing visits or study processes. Questionnaires were often perceived as long, time-consuming, boring, monotonous or repetitive. Timing, frequency and recall demands could increase data collection burden.
