The Oxford Vascular Study is predominantly white and captures a narrower range of non-motor outcomes than SIGNAL. Few existing stroke registries combine standardised stroke classification, detailed brain imaging, and comprehensive patient-reported non-motor outcomes in ethnically diverse populations. Two notable prior UK stroke registries — the South London Stroke Register and the Oxford Vascular Study — advanced knowledge of acute stroke care, cognition, prevention, and imaging but each had significant gaps. The South London Stroke Register has limited brain imaging data, constraining neuroimaging-outcome analyses.
