The exploratory findings raised safety concerns and indicated that the updated NTS protocol needs further validation. The NTS chest pain protocol was updated in October 2024 after enrolment ended to incorporate Safety First model elements. The updated NTS protocol had sharply lower sensitivity and missed many major events and ACS cases. Missing data may have caused misclassification in the exploratory analysis of the updated NTS protocol.
