Urine Specific Gravity

Urine specific gravity strips provide a more reliable and inexpensive hydration test than urine color. Normal urine specific gravity falls between 1.010 and 1.030. A urine specific gravity reading below 1.010 indicates excess fluid intake has washed out electrolytes; the remedy is to increase electrolyte intake, not drink more water.
