Lack of timely notification of vaccination dates was identified as a major barrier to HPV vaccine uptake. Misconceptions about fertility effects were identified as a barrier to HPV vaccination. Poor message delivery, lower awareness, and limited rural vaccine availability contributed to the urban-rural uptake disparity. The study recommends expanding health promotion and outreach into rural areas to improve HPV vaccination coverage. Strengthening school-based vaccination education programmes was recommended as a way to improve coverage.
