Validation Protocol

All data-dependent transformations were fitted only on training data within each fold. Optimized experiments used nested stratified cross-validation with five outer folds and three inner folds. Baseline experiments used stratified 5-fold cross-validation. Nested cross-validation reduces optimistic bias but does not remove the reliability limits caused by the small sample size.
