Overall index-hospitalisation intervention rates were similar between men and women. In severe symptomatic VHD, women remained more likely to receive valve repair. Valve intervention in the study was limited to valve-related procedures performed during the index hospitalisation. Percutaneous valve procedures were uncommon in the 2018 cohort. Among severe symptomatic VHD patients, non-intervention appeared influenced by clinical risk and comorbidity burden. Older age was associated with substantially lower intervention rates.
