VATS Lobectomy

VATS is associated with fewer postoperative complications, shorter hospital stays, less pain, and possible long-term survival improvement. Hospital volume is treated as a confounder partly because VATS performance depends on a steep learning curve. VATS use has increased as early-stage NSCLC treatment has moved away from open thoracotomy. Patients must be fit enough to tolerate substantial lung resection to undergo VATS lobectomy. VATS lobectomy is a common surgical approach for operable early-stage NSCLC.
