Visualization is meant to replace imagining the worst with imagining a desired outcome. After unwanted fear or pain is written out, attention shifts to what is wanted and to the felt experience of already having it. Negativity is framed as imagining a bad future that has not happened. When a person visualizes an experience, the brain responds as if the event happened. Visualization influences neuroplasticity. Mental rehearsal can activate pathways associated with action, performance, and experience. After negative emotions are written through and wants are identified, the next step is to imagine having what is wanted. Visualization can be used intentionally to help build pathways and habits aligned with goals.
