Wrist extension limitation means the wrist cannot comfortably reach the extended position needed for hand-supported exercise. If floor-based exercise requires more wrist extension than a person has, loading the end range can stress the wrist. Wrist mobility work is not automatically the first response to limited wrist extension because shoulder and elbow movement should be checked first. A classic straight-arm wrist extension stretch is useful only in the narrower situation where upstream contributors have already been cleared.
